January 12, 2007 – Oakland, CA--- Today, the national CBS morning news program, “The Early Show” featured The ReactorPanel Saddle Company’s President, Carmi Weininger, in a special segment focusing on women who leave the corporate world to operate their own businesses. Weininger shares her story of sacrificing her ‘corporate’ lifestyle, and income, for the sake of a saddle that she believes can make a difference for riders and their horses.
Highlighting both her past experience as a technology professional and the gratification she gets from helping riders help their horses; The CBS Early Show gave their national audience a glimpse into the life of a professional horseperson. Clips of the segment are available on the CBS web site at

In Weininger’s case, she left the corporate world in the late 1990s to open a Hunter/Jumper training facility. While she loved operating this business and developing riders to the championship level, she knew her future lay with ReactorPanel when the saddles made a remarkable improvement in her own horse who had suffered from debilitating back problems. Where body workers, vets, chiropractors and time-off failed, her ReactorPanel Saddle succeeded in restoring her horse’s ability to perform. In 2000, when the company was in danger of being dissolved, Carmi purchased the ReactorPanel design and started The ReactorPanel Saddle Company.
Now, Weininger says, her job offers more fulfillment than a just a paycheck. “I understand how fortunate I am to combine my background in business and passion for horses, and to have the freedom to create a company where people – and their horses – come first. Our dedication to customer service is already legendary, and in the past 18 months, 100% of our customers said their horse has improved since using our saddle. I’d say we are on the right track.”
Since taking over ReactorPanel, Weininger has dedicated herself to the study of saddle fit. Not your common saddlers, she and her team of certified saddle fitters are committed to incorporating science into the art of saddle fit by using pressure testing to verify the ReactorPanel’s pressure-relieving benefits and other tools that provide graphical proof of a saddle’s fit.
Now a recognized expert in the field of saddle fit, Weininger has taught saddle fitting courses and seminars at the college level to UC Davis and the University of Guelph, where she teaches at least one course each year. In addition, she has developed a saddle-fitting seminar designed for clubs and barn groups who want to know the basics of equine physiology and saddle fit.
Excited by the unique opportunity for an equine company to be recognized by the mainstream media, Weininger says, “When I was asked to participate in “The Early Show” segment, I responded immediately. It’s rare to see an equestrian company make the news, and I was thrilled that they thought our story was compelling enough to include”.
In the CBS news segment, Weininger fits a young horse in a ReactorPanel jumping saddle. You’ll also see her riding her Prix St. Georges horse in her ReactorPanel Encore dressage saddle.
