Certified Horsemanship Association Hires New Executive Director

Certified Horsemanship Association Hires New Executive Director
(April 2007) – The Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) has hired horse industry professional Christy Landwehr as its new executive director.

Christy has been active in the horse industry for over 25 years. Hunter/jumper, dressage, western pleasure, side saddle, barrel racing, endurance riding and saddle seat equitation are just some of the disciplines Christy has competed in at the local, regional and national levels. She has been teaching children and adults how to ride for over 18 years.

She is the current President of the American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) and founded and coached the University of Colorado at Boulder equestrian team.

With an undergraduate degree in public relations and speech communication and a graduate degree in mass communication and journalism, Christy has vast experience in marketing, fundraising and public relations. She was the Sponsorship and Youth Programs Manager for the Arabian Horse Association, a trainer for Skill Path Seminars, and the development director for The Urban Farm that works with at-risk youth in Denver. She has been the Marketing Director for CHA for over five years and is a master level riding instructor and a clinic staff member for the organization.

“With Christy taking on the position of executive director, we are ready to turn the corner and move forward to the next level,” says CHA President Pat Mullins. “Christy has vast horse industry experience with her work, play and as a volunteer. She is an asset to our association.”

“I am thrilled to be taking on this new role for CHA,” says Christy Landwehr. “Having been a riding instructor for so many years, I believe strongly in certification and am passionate about the horse industry.”

The purpose of CHA is to promote excellence in safety and education for the benefit of the horse industry. CHA certifies riding instructors and trail guides, accredits equestrian facilities, publishes educational manuals and provides support and resources for the horse industry.
