Charlotte Jumper Classic to Host Fifth Annual World-Class Show Jumping Event

Charlotte, NC - January 9, 2008 - This year's Charlotte Jumper Classic promises to be one of the most exciting show jumping events in the nation. In addition to holding jumper classes for junior, adult and amateur riders, it will host one of the most hotly contested grand prix events in the country.

The Charlotte Jumper Classic will be held on April 11-13, 2008, at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Featuring 10 classes of show jumping action, the Charlotte Jumper Classic is North Carolina's premier equestrian competition, hosting more than 200 horses in Uptown Charlotte and featuring $700,000 in prize money.

Last year's $200,000 Grand Prix of Charlotte winner, McLain Ward, will once again be attending the Charlotte Jumper Classic. He praises the event for their attention to detail and thinks it is a show for the future of the sport of show jumping.

"It's a great show. From the beginning, the organization has run the show as a first class event," Ward said. "It has the community behind it, and this year it will have the richest show jumping event in the country. Everything, from the facility, to the way they take care of the riders, to the way they put the horses first, they are trying to do on par with the best events in the world. They have a lot of good people there."

Ward will be joined by many of the top grand prix riders in the country, including fellow Olympians and rising show jumping stars.

The Charlotte Jumper Classic is a signature fundraising event for the Bobcats Youth Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of children and youth in the community. The upcoming 2008 Charlotte Jumper Classic will benefit the Bobcats Youth Foundation's three signature initiatives - building reading and technology centers, resurfacing outdoor basketball courts and supporting the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser, a mobile health clinic providing needed healthcare to disadvantaged children.

More information on the Charlotte Jumper Classic will be available soon.
