Adrienne Sternlicht Comes Out in Full ‘Regalia’ to Win Children’s Hunters Tricolor

Wellington, FL – February 18, 2007 – Braving blustery winds and chilly temperatures, Adrienne Sternlicht piloted Regalia to the championship spot in the 14 & Under Children’s Working Hunter division, section “A.”

Sternlicht, of Greenwich, CT, is 13-years-old and rides with Heritage Farm. She and Regalia, whose barn name is Merlin, have only been paired together since November when they purchased the 7-year-old chestnut gelding.

“This is my second weekend showing him. We got him in November, and this weekend, he was great,” Sternlicht commented. “He was really good for me today. We showed last weekend at Littlewood and he was really good then, too.” Reserve champion went to Kalvin Dobbs and Raindance.

Sternlicht has a history of winning and is a two-time victor of the World Championship Hunter Rider Pony Challenge. In addition to Regalia, she has other mounts that also show at the Winter Equestrian Festival in the Large Pony Hunters and Children’s Jumpers, as well as two catch rides. She added that her goals for this circuit include being consistent on her rides and improving in her jumper divisions.

The championship in section “B” of the 14 & Under Children’s Working Hunter divisions was awarded to Kaitlin Porath and O.C., who is owned by Meadow Hill Stable. Reserve champion in the “B” section was Catherine Tyree and Peppercorn, owned by First Partners.

In section “A” of the 36 to 50 Adult Amateur Hunter division, Stephanie Ingram swept the top two spots, earning both champion and reserve champion on Pilgrim and Ocean Front, respectively. Pilgrim, and 8-year-old Oldenburg, was first, second, third and eighth over the two-day period, and Ocean Front, a Holstein gelding, earned three firsts and a third.

“Everyone in the family has ridden Pilgrim – my twin sister, my daughter, my husband – he’s so much fun to ride,” Ingram explained. “He’s got the greatest rhythm and such a great heart. He sails over the jumps, and I don’t think he could get any easier. He’s always on your team and he doesn’t do anything wrong, which is very hard to say about any horses. I love him very much.” Ingram noted that Pilgrim was originally purchased for her daughter and her husband usually rides him, but an injury sidelined him for the weekend, which allowed her to take the reins.

With Ocean Front (Hubble in the barn), Ingram said that “he’s such an adult horse. He’s so good natured, and he’s like riding a real sport horse. He’s a real team player, and I love riding him, too. I feel like he’s your friend, but he has more of a ‘sports car’ ride.”

She continued, “He’s easy, special, sweet, kind, and a lot of fun to ride. I’m getting better and better on him. We were reserve champion at the Hampton Classic, and we’re becoming a solid team. I am very lucky because I have two very special horses that make it easy on me. I’m a very nervous rider – that would be my flaw – and I have a lot of ‘What if?’ thinking when I ride,” Ingram admitted.

The section “B” championship of the Adult Amateur Hunters went to Frances Briggs, who happens to be Ingram’s twin sister, on Red Carpet. On Saturday, the pair earned a first place over fences and a first and second place over fences on Sunday. Reserve champion in section “B” was Glen Senk and Dynamic, who were eighth under saddle on Saturday and first and second over fences on Sunday.

Hunter competition will resume at the Winter Equestrian Festival on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, for the hunter highlight of the circuit: the World Championship Hunter Rider Hunter Spectacular.
