2009 Colorado Summer Circuit Chock Full of Excitement

PARKER, CO. The ever-popular Colorado Summer Circuit will once again feature four weeks of outstanding horse showing in one of the regionís most beautiful settings, the Colorado Horse Park in Parker. The USEF 4-Star Jumper Rated and AA Hunter rated shows will include some of the nationís best horse and rider combinations in a number of highly anticipated competitions. "These shows are among the best in the region, drawing competitors from near and far alike," said Charlotte Skinner, Colorado show manager for Langer Equestrian Group. "We are thrilled to be managing such a stellar event."

One highlight will be the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program scheduled prior to the start of the circuit on June 22-23. The program supports the organizationís continuing efforts to bring educational and developmental opportunities to the grassroots participants in the hunter/jumper sport by helping them reach their full potential. Noted clinician Melanie Smith is heading up the effort, and the USHJA is realizing great interest. For more information: http://www.ushja.org/eap/index.shtml

Three weeks of the circuit feature grand prix jumping, and the purse for the first event is $25,000, the second weekís purse is $40,000, and on the final riders jump for $50,000. Upping the stakes, riders can win a $100,000 bonus. If a horse and rider combination wins two of the three events, they will receive a $25,000 bonus, and that same pair conquer all three events, they win $100,000. Bjorn Ikast was the last rider to come close when, in 2007, he won the $25,000 bonus.

Reduced nominating fees are sure to make jumper classes attractive to a cadre of riders. The Low Childrens/Adult Amateur Jumpers will have a classic each week, and the Junior/AO Jumper riders will have three classics with purses ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.

Other additions to the show should be sure to entice. This year, the Colorado Summer Circuit will offer a reduced rate feed and bedding service. Complimentary night-watch service throughout the show means your horses and gear are safe, and the Marriott Residence Inn has been added as a new host hotel.

Show and circuit championship awards will be presented and all shows count toward the very popular Trainer Incentive Program provided by the Langer Equestrian Group. The professional who earns the most points at the nine LEG managed shows at the Colorado Horse Park in 2009 will win an eight day and seven day stay at the beautiful Marriott Ocean Club Maui.
