San Juan Capistrano, CA – April 17, 2006 – It was yet another beautiful week at the Oaks Blenheim Spring Tournament. The third week of competition, held on April 12-16, 2006, saw more blue ribbons fluttering in the breeze in the tack room of Karen Healey Stables.
One of the most decorated riders of the week was Alexandra Conforti of La Cañada, CA. The talented equitation rider won both phases of the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Equitation Classic and the overall prize. She also finished first in the CPHA Junior/Amateur Medal class and was second in the USEF Junior Medal class. A fourth place finish in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search class and eighth place in the $5,000 Open Equitation Classic rounded out the impressive results.
After winning the WIHS Classic, Conforti traveled to Hansen Dam Equestrian Center in Lakeview Terrace, CA, to compete in the Interscholastic Equestrian League Varsity Medal Finals, where she finished as the reserve champion. Conforti is a student at Flintridge Prep School in La Cañada, CA.
Hannah Selleck of Thousand Oaks, CA, was another successful rider this weekend. She and Bella, owned by Descanso Farm, were champions in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters after picking up two blues, two second places, and a third in the division. Selleck and Bella went on to win the Junior Hunter Classic as well.
On San Francisco, owned by Arwen Stables, Selleck finished third overall in the WIHS Classic and the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search class. She was also seventh in the $5,000 Open Equitation Classic. Tenth in the classic was fellow Karen Healey Stables rider, Tiffani Weeda.
In the jumper classes this week, the standout was Alison LaJoie of Laguna Hills, CA. She and Northstar led the victory gallop in the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers. LaJoie then piloted Southern to third place in the WCE Junior/Amateur Medal class.
Karen Healey Stables’ assistant trainer, Kasey Ament, rode Uniek to second place in the 1.40m Jumpers and seventh place in the $5,000 Open Jumper Classic.
Karen Healey Stables will take a much deserved week off before traveling to the Showpark Spring Festival in Del Mar, CA, to compete on April 27-30, 2006.
