Wellington, FL – February 10, 2007 – On the third day of Cosequin Wellington Dressage at the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival, Jan Brons and Jourdan took home the highest honors in the USEF High Performance Grand Prix Special test.

Brons and Jourdan, who were victorious in a Grand Prix class at Zada Enterprises, LLC, Dressage at The National this past year, earned a 68.867 percent for the win. High performance classes are qualifying events for the Intermediaire I National Championships and the Pan American Games Selection Trials in Gladstone, NJ. Jourdan is a Dutch Warmblood gelding by Elmshorn and is owned by Brons. In competition yesterday, the pair earned a 63.542 percent for their Grand Prix efforts.

“I liked (the test) a lot, especially since yesterday he was a little hot and unruly,” Brons commented. “Today he was way more rideable, and even though he had a mistake in the one tempis, I was very happy with how rideable he was. I could just go around the ring like it was a day at home, and I liked that.”

Brons said that there was no specific part of the test that he favored and noted that there were many good movements throughout the performance. His plans for the horse for the season include the next two WEF dressage shows and a possible bid for an invitation for Gladstone.

Nancy Later and her own Alexis –D were second in the Special with a 67.733 percent, and Suzanne Dansby Phelps was third with Goubergh’s Kaspar, earning a 65.93 percent.
