Courtney King Takes the Reins on New Dressage Stallion Jubilant

BEDFORD, NY – May 31, 2006 – Courtney King has been awarded the ride on the seven-year-old dressage stallion Jubilant by the Oldenburg stallion Don Schufro out of Hauptstutbuch Fleur. Jubilant was bred in Denmark by Hermann Kuijpers and is owned by Anne H. Wood and Virginia Easley. Prior to King taking over the reins, Jubilant was ridden by Brandilee Rivera and trained by Lendon Gray. He has been shown successfully in dressage competitions from Training Level through Second Level, ridden by Rivera under the direction of Gray.

King is currently riding Jubilant (known as “Eubie”) at Gleneden Dressage in Bedford, New York, where Gray continues to provide training help. “Eubie is a wonderful stallion,” said King. “His gaits are very fun – expressive, elegant, and correct. He is also extremely sensible, never spooky or silly. He has a very good work ethic and tries hard to please. The handsome 16.2-hand liver chestnut stallion also stands out because of his handsome good looks and one trademark feature, according to King – “He has these wonderful floppy ears that endear him to all who watch.”

Having been given the ride in April, King has established a good rapport with Jubilant and is pleased with his progress over the past few weeks. “He's just beginning to learn collection and his trot feels both powerful and floating!”

King plans to debut Jubilant in July at Third Level and is looking forward to a successful partnership in the ring. “I think Eubie has a great future, and he is a blast to work with,” King enthused.

King, 28, is based at Gleneden Dressage in Bedford, New York. In 2000, she was named to the USET Olympic Long List and in 2004 she was named to the USEF High Performance Developing Riders List. King is a United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist and a USDF Certified Instructor through Fourth Level.
