Dressage Rider Suzanne Dansby-Phelps Donates Prize Money to Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center

Wellington, FL – March 7, 2007 – International grand prix dressage rider Suzanne Dansby-Phelps donated her prize money from recent competition to Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center. In addition, Dansby-Phelps stated her intention to give all her prize money from the 2007 show season to Vinceremos.

With her two grand prix dressage horses, Cooper and Kasper, Dansby-Phelps is recognized as one of the top dressage competitors today. She is already qualified for the U.S. Freestyle Championships and League Finals, which will be held in Burbank, Calif., from March 31 through April 1. The top two riders from the competition in Burbank will be selected to represent the United States at the FEI Rolex World Cup Dressage Finals in Las Vegas in April.

Aside from donating prize money to charitable organizations, she donates her personal time by serving on the boards of the Animal Health Trust, the Susan Mott Webb Charitable Trust and the Shade Tree Home for Girls in Edgefield, South Carolina. She also recently accepted a position on the Development Committee of the United States Dressage Federation.

“This is what life is about. When one is in a position to give back, do it,” Dansby-Phelps said. “If you have the resources to give to what you believe in, either become involved in giving with your time and abilities or give in other ways. In my mind, in order to be truly successful, it is to share one’s knowledge and give back to others, especially to those in need.”

Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center, based in Loxahatchee Groves, FL, is a nonprofit organization that provides recreational and therapeutic riding instruction to people of all ages with varying developmental, physical and psychological disabilities in an energetic and nurturing setting. The organization has assisted more than 1,000 adults and children to gain a sense of accomplishment, greater independence and a higher quality of life.

Currently, Vinceremos is raising funds for a Capital Campaign, “Cover Our Kids.” The campaign is a three-part project that will increase the ability of the facility to serve its clients, enabling them to ride throughout the year in all-weather conditions. Phase One will build a covered arena, Phase Two will expand stable and office work spaces, and Phase Three will improve the parking area.
