Debi Metcalfe Goes West as Speaker at the Pomona Equine Affaire

Visitors to the Pomona Equine Affaire will attend feature in-depth clinics conducted by many of the nation's foremost trainers, coaches, competitors, and Olympians. This year the agenda includes Debi Metcalfe, president and founder of Stolen Horse International, aka NetPosse.com, the industry leader in horse theft education and horse identification information.

In the process of solving her own crime and compiling her research Ms. Metcalfe has become a recognized authority in her field. She has appeared on television and various radio programs, in newspaper and magazine articles, and addressed civic groups and horse expos audiences. She is the author of Horse Theft. Been There—Done That, columnist and writer. Presently Metcalfe and Idaho appear on the winter cover of The Gaited Horse magazine with a featured article inside. Her message is powerful and inspirational.

When her husband Harold’s horse Idaho was recovered after 51-weeks, Metcalfe vowed that no other victim would have to face such a traumatic experience alone. Today, at the nerve center of Stolen Horse International, Inc., Idaho Alerts, similar to Amber Alerts, are sent out by the thousands throughout the world when a horse is missing. Metcalfe sorts through hundreds of e-mails daily, many requesting information or telling their own stories of theft.

Through the efforts of Metcalfe and the NetPosse volunteers, many horses and their owners have been reunited. Metcalfe’s experience plus working with victims every week gives us insight that most horse owners can't understand, until the worst happens.

Horse owners want to learn more about the crime that did not go out with the "old west" days. The unadvertised web site has had over 12 million hits in the last year and averages over 70,000 unique visitors a month.

“It is our hope that through education, which includes the Idaho Alert, that we will help horse owners protect themselves, their horses and their tack. If the worst does happen and the right preventative measures have been followed, owners have a greater chance of finding their horses.” says Metcalfe.

Metcalfe will talk about theft precautions, equine identification methods, disaster recovery and much more Thursday and Friday at the event. Stop by and visit with her in booth 692 in Building 6.
