Deeridge Farms' Kachina and Lou Jacobs Take Fourth Place in $40,000 PB Equine Clinic Grand Prix

Wellington, FL - January 28, 2008 - Deeridge Farms, based out of East Aurora, NY, and Wellington, FL, had another great week of showing at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). Lou Jacobs and Kachina moved up to the open jumper division and had a fantastic fourth place finish in the $40,000 Palm Beach Equine Clinic Grand Prix.

Kachina was one of only four horses to jump a first clear round out of 53 entries in the grand prix. She and Jacobs returned for the jump-off and had four faults, but they finished a respectable fourth place behind Pan Am Games competitor Francis Tres Roig, Olympic gold medalist McLain Ward, and top Canadian rider Eric Lamaze.

This was Kachina's first time in the Sunday grand prix at WEF, and Jacobs was very pleased with the 10-year-old Selle Francais mare. "I thought the course was great, and (course designer) Richard (Jeffrey) did a good job of making it tough enough despite it only being 1.45m," Jacobs said. "It was fun to be a part of the jump-off with riders like Eric, McLain, and Francis."

Jacobs and Kachina will compete again next week in the WEF Challenge Cup on Thursday and the Sunday grand prix. After that, Jacobs said with a smile, "I'm going to give Kachina some time off and maybe bring her back later in the circuit and use her in some other classes and avoid the really big grand prix. I'm very much an amateur rider, and she's a bit new to all this. I don't think we're ready to jump against the big guys when they all get going."

Many other Jacobs family members had solid shows, and one of the top performers was Phoebe Robinson of Bronxville, NY.

Robinson rode Red Dragon to first and second places in the Children's 14 & Under Hunter division. She also picked up a sixth place ribbon on Maxim. In the Large Pony Hunters, she and Braveheart finished second and fourth.

Melissa Jacobs competed in the same division on Patricia McGrail-Peasley's Dakota and won a fifth place ribbon. Dakota was awarded ribbons in the Non-Thoroughbred Hunters with rider Geoff Teall.

Katie Jacobs Robinson and So You Say won an over fences class in the Adult Amateur 36-50 Hunters, while her brother Lou took fourth place in the $1,500 Medium Amateur-Owner Jumper class on Soleil.

Deeridge Farms will show next week at the WEF Smart For Life CSI 2*, "AA" on Jan. 30 to Feb. 3.
