Darren Chiacchia Leads Team to Victory Against Some of the Sport’s Finest Equestrians
Louisville, KY (March 15, 2007) -- Niagara Equissage, an innovative cycloidal vibration massage therapy system from Equine Products, LLC, was a proud sponsor of the Pegasus Design Group DerbyCross(TM) competition held Saturday, March 3 at Overlook Farm in Ocala, Florida. Top equestrian athletes from around the world competed to make this new sport, which combines the speed and accuracy of show jumping with the bravery and endurance of cross country jumping, a memorable event.
Five teams, featuring Olympic, World Games and Pan American riders from four countries, tackled a challenging DerbyCross course designed by Olympic Gold Medalist and U.S. Equestrian Federation President, David O’Connor. U.S. Olympic and Pan American medalist Darren Chiacchia led his Team Chiacchia to victory, winning a total purse of $12,000, saddle pads from Niagara Equissage and product from Mojo Joint Supplement. Additional team riders included Erin Spohr, Christin Stoop, and jumper rider Kyle King, who also took home the Show Jumping MVP Award and an additional $1,000 for his superb round that put his team over the top for the win. Team Meredyth South, captained by Olympian Karen O’Connor -- an avid Niagara Equissage user -- came in a close second, winning $4,000.

The premiere DerbyCross event, held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Great Meadow in the The Plains, Virginia, was a huge success. The popularity of the sport prompted organizers Rebecca Howard, Equestrian Director at The Fork Stables, Dana Voorhees, President of Equestrian Entertainment Partners, Juan Salinas-Bentley, Director of Great Meadows Polo and Sinead Halpin, Director of Dunlavin Eventing, to establish a winter home for the event: Overlook Farm in Ocala, Florida.
