Devon Kane of Diamante Farms Acquires Two Danish Horses for Competition in Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program

WELLINGTON, FL - May 8, 2008 - Diamante Farms of Wellington, FL, has purchased two young Danish Warmbloods for Devon Kane to prepare for competition in the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program. Kane, 22, won the Individual Gold Medal and Team Bronze Medal at the 2007 North American Young Rider Championships. Kane is based out of Diamante Farms and is coached by the farm's head trainer Michelle Gibson, a 1996 Atlanta Olympics Team Bronze Medalist. Terri and Dick Kane of Wellington, FL, and San Antonio, TX, own Diamante Farms.

Devon Kane and Michelle Gibson recently returned from an extensive shopping trip in Denmark where they sought out talented young prospects for Kane to train for competition in the Young Horse classes. "We looked at a billion while we were over there!" Kane related. Ultimately, Kane selected two youngsters for purchase - Midwest Destiny, a five-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding by Diamond Hit out of a Rubenstein mare; and Sanchez, a coming three-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion by Blue Hors Romanov out of Sourire by Camelot.

Five-year-old Midwest Destiny arrived at Diamante Farms in Wellington on Saturday, May 3. Kane will prepare the gelding to compete in the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program in the Six Year Old Division during the 2009 season.

Kane noted that 'Destiny' has some of the same bloodlines as Diamante Farms' Don Angelo, an Oldenburg stallion that Gibson rode to the 2007 USEF National Developing Horse Dressage Championship, and the farm's talented young mare, Dark Diamond. "Destiny's breeding is an interesting match for me because Don Angelo is Rubenstein and Dark Diamond is Diamond Hit," Kane pointed out. "He is a bit of both sides and my hope is that he gets the best of both worlds!"

Kane rode 'Destiny' for the first time two days after his arrival at the farm and noted, "He is lovely to ride, with great expression and suspension already. He is very elastic and responsive to my seat, so he will be wonderful to work with and learn with through our Young Horse debut! I am excited to see where we go. It will be fun!"

Two-and-a-half year old Sanchez will remain in Denmark during the 2008 summer. The young stallion is under saddle and working lightly six days a week with trainer Per Skjaerbaek. "I'm going to go back in four or five months and look at him again and see how he's going," said Kane. "He's a lot of fun to ride. Depending on how full our barn is next year, he'll either come for the winter season or right after." Kane will prepare Sanchez for the Four Year Old Division in the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program, aiming for a 2009 show ring debut.

With her two new young horses, Kane will be competing in the Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program for the first time. A dressage rider since age 11, Kane has earned numerous United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Regional Championships from First through FEI Levels, the USDF Bronze Medal and Silver Medal, and finished her Young Rider career with Individual Gold and Team Bronze at the 2007 North American Young Rider Championships. "I'm looking forward to competing in the Young Horse classes for the first time," Kane said. "It will be a fun experience!"
