DFG Stables Takes Home A Bounty of Accolades

Aiken, SC February 25, 2009—The riders of Aiken, SC based DFG Stables headed home from the Ocala Winter Series with a trunk load of awards after wrapping up a third week in Ocala, FL at the Post Time Farm location.

DFG Stables head trainer Daniel Geitner was busy as ever riding in both hunter and jumper rings daily. Starting the week off with a Reserve Championship in the Pre Green 3’ Hunter division riding Orient de Mesille for owner Laura Regan. Daniel also garnered a Championship title in the Baby Green Hunters aboard Harry Potter for owner Robin Hughes. Over in the Low Hunter section Daniel picked up a 2nd place ribbon for owner Lane Geer riding Lark’s Graphite. During the weekend Lane picked up a 3rd place in the Children’s 15-17 Hunter division. Geitner also piloted Lee Cesery’s What D’ya Know to a 5th place in the Hi-Low Hunter section and Lee landed a 3rd place in the Amateur Owner 36 & Over division. From there he switched over to the jumper rings where he immediately picked up a 2nd place with Wiedan in the Level 5 for owner Laura Regan.

Daniel shifted his focus to the DFG family and proudly took up the role of trainer-cheerleader. Laura Regan had another stellar week with top ribbons coming aboard Verdi in the Level 5 jumpers, picking up a 1st and 3rd . While Cara Dodson swept up several victories beginning with the Marshall & Sterling-NAL Children’s Hunter Classic and Champion in both the Children’s Hunter 14 & Under with Don Castillo as well as the Pony Jumpers with The Waterboy-both owned by David Q. Wright.

Also from the jumper rings, Kathryn Crump scored a 2nd place finish with Caletto in the Modified Junior division. And Randy Hannold picked up a red ribbon in the Level 2 jumpers with partner Grandisimo.

Meanwhile back on the home front Daniel’s better half and co-trainer, Cathy Geitner, had a fun weekend with DFG family at the local Aiken Winter Festival event held at Highfields Equestrian. Two Reserve Champions emerged in the Hopeful Hunter sections, on Saturday it was Janelle Harcus riding Princeton for owner Molly Donohue and on Sunday it was Michelle Hegarty riding Steel My Heart for owner Ann Lineberger. Also in the ribbons this week were Kathryn Jarriel with a 1st place in both the PSJ 3’ Junior Medal and the SC Governor’s Cup with new mount Wat Tyler. Sarah Duncan grabbed a red ribbon in the High Schooling Jumpers with Luigi-owned by assistant DFG trainer JF Gagne.
