DFG Stables Celebrates New Year with Big Victories

Aiken, SC January 5, 2009— It’s been a jolly holiday time with family and friends for the riders of Aiken, SC based DFG Stables who began the new season with a flurry of wins. At week one of the Aiken Winter Classics the DFG team garnered six Division Championships and four Reserve Championships.

DFG Stables ruled the Aiken Winter Classics New Year’s Eve opening week at Highfield’s Event Center. Beginning with head trainer-owner Daniel Geitner scoring a Championship in the 1st Year Green Working Hunters with the Elizabeth Tarumianz owned Bonafide. “He’s a wonderful horse. Good mind, great scope. I’m thrilled to be riding him.” Gainer commented on the new mount.

Switching gears Genitor and party claimed four of the top ten spots in the weekend’s $10,000 Mini Prix. Ann Ritter’s Jumbo Jet piloted by daughter Kitt placed 4th and Geitner partnered with the CDS Stable’s entry Neville landed in the 6th position. While owner rider Brian Gjetley captured the 7th place with Piks Pistelero and Geitner’s assistant JF Gagne rode The Bus for owner Michael Kocher to complete the 10th place. Also in the money was owner-rider Kathryn Crump aboard Caletto who claimed a 4th place in the $5,000 Welcome Stake.

Other members of the DFG team scoring tri colored ribbons this week included Catherine Stumberg with a 1st in the NAL WIHS Child Adult Jumper Classic and 1st in the 0.95M jumper division aboard sister Sara’s Riverdance. Catherine was Reserve Champion in the 0.85M jumpers with Snook. A friendly competition between barn mates found Laura Regan with Wiedan taking the top of the 1.05M jumper division over Randy Hannold and Grandisimo, who happily accepted the Reserve honors. Laura also claimed the Reserve Championship in the 1.15M jumpers with Verdi.

And over in the hunter rings several of the DFG family captured division ribbons. In the Adult Amateur Hunter 35 & Over section Kimberly Quinn with her beloved Gershwin danced away with Reserve Champ honors, while Geitner rode the Lisa Linehan’s entry Free Falling for the title of Champion in the Aiken County Hunter. Alexis Reece had Reason to Believe, as the pair won the Pre Adult divisions, and Elizabeth Butterworth found that Sportspage was front page news in the Large Pony Hunter section.

Daniel and the DFG family will remain for the finale week of the Aiken Winter Classics and then hit the road to Ocala, Florida for the heated competition at HITS.
