Diane Carney Students Sweep Lake St. Louis with Tricolors and Grand Prix Victory

St. Louis, MO - January 21, 2008 - The students of Telluride Farm put in an excellent showing of equestrian prowess this week at the Lake St. Louis Hunter/Jumper Horse Show II in St. Louis, MO, under the tutelage of Diane Carney.

Stephanie Pearson and Symphatico III captured the reserve championship in the Low Junior Jumper division. Their pair earned two second place ribbons and an eighth place for the honor.

"Every one was great this week. Stephanie (Pearson) was almost the winner twice in the Lows - she was second by less than a whisker both times!" Carney noted. "Catie (Hope) was consistent, it was great to see Laura (Linback) take home the grand prix win, and Hannah jogged in every class. It's an excellent season already."

Catie Hope piloted Caped Crusader to the championship in the 16 & 17 Large Junior Hunters. The pair took the blue ribbon in the under saddle class and were pinned with a first, two seconds and a third to amass the points for the tricolor.

Hope's success continued into the jumper ring aboard La Paz, where she captured second place in the $2,500 Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic Level 7. She also competed Ricardo, an entry owned by Emil and Michelle Spadone, in the Low Junior/Amateur Owner division. Together they earned two fourths and a second place ribbon.

Laura Linback, a grand prix rider with whom Carney has established new client relationship, was victorious in the $25,000 Grand Prix. Linback rode As Di Villagana for owner Woodrun Farm and took home the top prize. She also placed tenth on Sampras. In the $5,000 Welcome Stake held earlier in the week, she took both fourth and eighth places about As Di Villagana and Sampras, respectively.

Hannah Gorman showed great consistency and jogged in every class in the 16 & 17 Large Junior Hunters. Aboard Cactus, a Carney-owned entry, Gorman earned a fourth and an eighth place ribbon over fences, while on her own Skyland's Wonder, she was third under saddle and finished sixth in two over fences classes. In the Novice Rider Jumper division, Gorman took both a third and an eighth placeĀ with Jupiter, owned by Ken Gorman.

Carney, based out of Hampshire, IL, has been both an active participant and influential trainer in the hunter and jumper community for many years. Her contributions to the industry extend to the many clinics that she teaches every year, in addition to those that she hosts annually for U.S. Show Jumping chef equipe George H. Morris and top hunter/jumper trainer Don Stewart Jr. Carney is also a driving force behind the United States Hunter Jumper Association's High Performance Hunter Committee, which seeks to develop a program that will bring the lost art of tradition and horsemanship back to the show ring.
