24 Carrot Benefit Dinner Raises $50,000 + For Chastain Horse Park's Therapeutic Riding Program

Atlanta, GA – October 31, 2007 -- Food enthusiasts saddled up for the Sixth Annual “24 Carrot” Gold Chef’s Dinner raising more than $50,000 for their therapeutic riding programs at the Chatain Horse Park in Atlanta, GA on October 25. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the non-profit therapeutic riding programs at Chastain Horse Park for students with mental and physical disabilities and children-at-risk.

Executive chefs Jamie Adams, Gary Mennie, Shaun Doty and Carvel Gould are just three of the culinary masters who donated their time and talents in the kitchen to over 70 guests who enjoyed their fine fare, bid on auction items and listened to a heart-felt speech by 17 year old Sarah Ward, who began her riding career at the Park.

“Sarah's speech brought tears to my eyes, for she really put things back into perspective,” said her trainer Liza Towell-Boyd of Finally Farm who flew in with her husband Blake from the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, where she’d piloted Brunello to the Grand Hunter Championship. “I think that we all get so caught up winning blue ribbons that we loose touch with reality. The stress and emotional aspect of the indoor shows is very overwhelming, and Sarah's speech brought me back to the "real world" where a swap or a rub is really not the end of the world. Sarah compared her and wheelchair bound Jennifer Lundquist (who the young equestrian mentors) lives and how much horses have done for them both, for they are both determined and dedicated to riding. Sarah wants to win blue ribbons and Jen hopes to be able to trot again, yet they are both so passionate.” Sarah, who had also won at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on her hunter Onassis, was passionate about her work with the Chastain Horse Park.

"I really wanted to let people know how much the Chastain program helps people and let them know what they do, and how they do it. Jennifer is an amazing girl and I hope to be able to help and I know the therapeutic program will do that too." The rest of the Towell family couldn’t make the dinner as other clients kept them away – Hardin riding for Andrea Kings of Millstream Farm’s Grand Prix horses and father Jack making sure that Brunello’s owner Carolyn Clark Morrison did well at Pennsylvania winning in the A/O Hunters!!! Sarah has also chosen to dedicate her winnings from horse shows to the therapeutic program in her individual effort to pay tribute to the change that horses have made in her life, with a clear understanding of how our horses will create life-changing therapy for our riders with disabilities.
