Double H Horse Farm Hosts Fall Open House in West Point

Farm owner and manager Nadia Heffner just opened the doors to Double H Horse Farm this summer, and she’s inviting the public for a weekend of education and fun at a Fall Open House. On October 28 and 29 from 1-4 p.m., horse owners, riders, and enthusiasts can stop by for an afternoon of educational speakers, demonstrations, door prizes, and refreshments.

The tentative schedule for both Saturday and Sunday is:

1:00 p.m. Hayride tour of the farm

1:30 p.m. Nutrition discussion by Aleta Clark of Rail to Trail Tack and Feed

2:15 p.m. Working with your Farrier discussion by farrier Brad Bixler

2:40 p.m. Colt-starting demonstration by trainer Nadia Heffner

3:20 p.m. Pre-purchase Exam demonstration by Cathy Alinovi, DVM, of Hoofstock Veterinary Service

The speakers will be on hand throughout the day to talk with visitors and answer questions. In addition, equine dentist Jennifer Clark will be available throughout the weekend with educational materials and to answer dentistry questions. On Sunday, Artistic Pet Portraits by Sandy Blackburn will also be on site.

Door prizes for the weekend include Nutrena feed and a bucket of horse goodies. The Open House will be held rain or shine in the indoor arena.

Double H Horse Farm is a full-service boarding, training, and lesson facility on 24 acres just 20 minutes from downtown Lafayette and Purdue University. Owner Nadia Heffner has been involved with horses for 22 years and has competed in 4-H, open shows, and on the Quarter Horse circuit. She specializes in starting young horses under saddle and providing top-quality care for horses of all kinds.

Double H Horse Farm is located in West Point on County Road 500 South, one quarter-mile west of County Road 500 West. The farm has its own dogs and cats (and a potbellied pig!), so they ask that visitors leave theirs at home.
