And Country Club Happy Hour to Raise Funds for the USET Foundation
WELLINGTON, FLORIDA – March 7, 2007 – Mondays are “Equestrian Day” at the Wellington Golf and Country Club in Wellington, Florida, which gives equestrian participants the opportunity to golf at a discounted rate and then enjoy cocktail specials, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and a deejay during Happy Hour in the club from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Previous “Celebrity Bartender” evenings have featured riders from the sports of show jumping and polo, and on the evening of March 7, it was the dressage community’s turn to put some of their world-class athletes behind the bar.
The energetic dressage Celebrity Bartenders earned $500 in tips, which was donated to the USET Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite and developing international, high-performance athletes and horses in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation.
The dressage riders took turns behind the bar in groups of two and three so that they could also enjoy the festive night with their colleagues as customers as well. Working the bar and the crowd were: Pati Pierucci, Kathy Connelly, 1992 Barcelona Olympic Team Bronze Medalist Charlotte Bredahl Baker, Jan Brons, Michael Barisone, and John Zopatti.
Enjoying the evening and supporting the USET Foundation were world-class riders George Williams, Bent Jensen, Vera Kessels-Barisone, Todd Flettrich, Suzanne Dansby-Phelps, and Betsy Steiner. Friends and supporters of the sport turned out as well, including Tamara Gerber, John Grimes, and “Wiggy” Sterflinger.
