Einsteins Revolution and Ruben Vandorp Win $10,000 Cinder Lakes Ranch Open

Spectators at the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Horse Show witnessed first class reining Friday, October 6, at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Amidst ear-splitting applause, Einsteins Revolution, ridden by Ruben Vandorp, took control of the $10,000 Added Cinder Lakes Open, winning the class by one point with a 227.5.

“This horse is awesome to show,” said Vandorp after the awards ceremony. “He’s been shown so hard this year, but he always gives his best – which is awesome.”

The Open Championship earned $3,836 for Einsteins Revolution – whose 2007 earnings exceed $180,000. In fact, the 5-year-old stallion is a mere $700 from reaching the $300,000 mark in lifetime earnings – a goal that Vandorp says will be achieved.

“I think we’ll show him at the NRBC next year, and maybe another show or two. Then hopefully we’ll breed a lot of mares to him,” said the new Open champion of his plans. Einsteins Revolution is owned by Wagner and Vandorp.

Second in the Open went to Victoria Lambert’s great mare, Memorable Affair, ridden by Brent Wright. The pair marked 226.5, earning $2,630.

It was a great evening for Romain Ampe and My Way Maria, who captured the Championship in the Intermediate Open, Limited Open, and Rookie Professional, with a score of 222.5.

This was the first time Ampe has shown My Way Maria, and he said he couldn’t have been happier. “She stopped huge, and waited for me to tell her what to do,” he said. “It really felt good.”

Ampe just recently began working for Ruben Vandorp, and is originally from France. He says that he plans on sticking around – and will probably show My Way Maria next year in Derby competition.

Ampe and My Way Maria collected $603 for the Intermediate Open Championship, $398 for the Limited Open Championship, and $165 for the Rookie Professional. My Way Maria is owned by Melissa Vandorp.

Second in the Intermediate Open was Garth Brown, riding Vittorio Rabboni’s Playboy Master. The pair marked a 221, earning a check for $473.

HR Ruf Dunit, ridden by Kinzy Donnelly, won second in the Limited Open. The pair scored 217, taking home $255 for owner Bill Hathaway.

Tove Schmidt rode Dream Olena Chic to a score of 214.5, winning second in the Rookie Professional. Dream Olena Chic is owned by Euro-Vets.

The culmination of the night’s activities came at the Two Frogs Resturant/Einsteins Revolution Draw Party, held just after the conclusion of the Open Class. Various auctions raised money for Rein In Cancer, and the embryo transfer donated by Houston Ranch of Whitesboro, Texas, was auctioned to help fund the Southwest Futurity Mare Incentive.

Action continues on Saturday at the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity, with the Non Pro, Intermediate/Limited Open and Open Finals.
