The three horses competing in the $70,000 Added Derby will have a week off before entering the class. "They are all broke and know their job so it should be pretty easy to have them mentally ready for the NRHA Derby. Lean With Peppy Chex, the horse I'm riding in the CRI Open, has a lot of experience and knows his routine as well. My futurity horses will be the ones I have to help get settled in when we get there."

It is very difficult earn the title of Elite Rider, and is a task that requires dedication and perseverance. "I am very proud to have earned the Elite Rider title," said Fappani, "I have worked very hard to have gotten to where I am today." He is currently working towards the $2 million Elite Rider status, which only two riders have currently achieved. One of those riders is Tim McQuay, who will be judging at this year's competition.

One of Fappani's other goals is to compete at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games. Reining is the only western sport recognized by the FEI. "I'm excited to show and ride for the USA," noted Fappani. "I feel it is great exposure for the sport and to be a part of that is very exciting. The chance to qualify and ride in this event will be exciting and will be something new for me."

Reining By The Bay is a qualifying event for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games. "Reining By the Bay one of my favorite shows on the west coast," smiled Fappani.
