Equestrians Celebrate New Year’s Eve at International Polo Club Palm Beach

WELLINGTON, FL (January 4, 2006) – It was a who’s who of the equestrian world as almost 200 guests celebrated the countdown for 2006 at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

The New Year’s celebration began poolside with a cocktail hour and featured delicious passed hors d'oeuvres as guests mingled and discussed the upcoming polo and equestrian season.

Guests then made their way to into the Mallet Grille, where they enjoyed a four-course gourmet meal that started with salmon trio and a mixed greens with asparagus tips and mushroom salad. The choice of entrée was either roast tenderloin of beef or macadamia encrusted sea bass and the meal was topped off with a decadent dessert of hazelnut delice with mixed berry coulis.

The celebration kicked into high gear with a champagne toast at midnight. After dinner, party-goers danced until the wee hours to the music of Encore.

Among the guests were Matthew and Sylvia Firestone, 8-goal polo star Julio Arellano and his wife, Meghan, polo patron Angelo Kleronomos, Denis and Sandi Quinlan, Shaugnessey, Leo and Samantha Conroy, 7-goaler Luis Escobar, Ralph and Holly Caristo, Randy and Jane Aversano as well as 9-time AGA Rider of the Year Margie Engle and her husband, Steve.

“It was a nice way of starting off the new year with our members and friends,” said Michael C. Brown, International Polo Club General Manager. “We’re expected a fantastic season.”

International Polo Club begins its third season of high-goal polo on Sunday, January 15 with a first-round game in the Joe Barry Memorial Cup. Individual game tickets range from $10 for general admission and $20 for reserved terrace seating and are available in advance. For ticket information, please call the club at (561) 204-5687 or visit the club’s website at http://www.internationalpoloclub.com. Tickets are also available at the gate on the day of the game.

International Polo Club Palm Beach is located at 3667 120th Avenue South, between Pierson Road and Lake Worth Road, in Wellington.
