EquestrianSingles.com Leads Horse Owners to Love

Popular Web site makes Valentine’s Day a great day to seek romance

(AUSTIN, Tex.) February 14, 2007: For many single horse owners, taking care of their fetlocked friends often keeps them from having much of a social life. But thousands of horse lovers have learned the best way to increase their likelihood of finding romance and friendship. That is, of course, finding someone who loves horses as much as you do.

For more than five years, EquestrianSingles.com has used this strategy to help horse owners connect with one another. The Web site has registered more than 70,000 people interested in finding friendship, riding buddies, or true romance. To date, more than 1,000 couples have met through the site, fallen in love, and gotten married. The secret to EquestrianSingles’ success is that membership requires a love of horses.

“Horse owners often find that a mixed marriage… marrying someone who doesn’t love horses… doesn’t work out too well,” said Marcia Zwilling, president and co-founder of EquestrianSingles.com. “It’s always better to find someone with a similar interest, and there’s no better place to find a horse lover than on our Web site.”

The 1,000th couple to meet and marry through EquestrianSingles.com, Catherine Norman and Jerry Lee Sewell, provide a great example of how love can flourish when horses are involved. Catherine, a retired ER nurse, joined EquestrianSingles.com, entered some personal information online and wrote a bit about her passion for horses. Jerry Lee, a 64-year-old Viet Nam veteran and horse trainer, found Catherine’s profile online and was instantly smitten.

“Three years later, we were married on Thanksgiving weekend,” said Jerry. “We exchanged vows on horseback and rode off together into the sunset.”

With the success of EquestrianSingles, Zwilling and Mirkin have launched two other sites that are part of the Equestrian-Network: EquestrianFriends.com and EquestrianChat.com. Members can search the sites for new friends interested in the same breed or discipline, someone who lives nearby and wants a riding partner, or someone looking for romance.

What’s the best way to kindle a romance online? According to EquestrianSingles CEO and co-founder Jan Mirkin, honesty is the key. “Honesty is the foundation of any relationship,” said Mirkin. “If you are truthful about who you are, the things you like, and the kind of person you’re hoping to find, you’ll greatly increase your chances of finding someone special.”

So, if mucking out the stalls is not your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day, why not sit down at your computer and take a chance at EquestrianSingles.com? You might find someone who wants to share more than just your love of horses. You just might find your true Valentine.
