SAUGERTIES, NY (October 3, 2008)—After resounding successes at HITS Saugerties and HITS Ocala, HITS is taking its Equine Art Gala to the West Coast where it will debut during the 2009 HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, California.
The HITS Thermal Equine Art Gala will take place on Saturday, January 31 during DC II. The event is certain to be well attended because it will take place in the popular indoor arena at the HITS Desert Horse Park the evening of the $50,000 Strongid® C 2X™ FEI World Cup Qualifier. In all, HITS Thermal will host four FEI World Cup Qualifiers on the road to the Finals that will be held in April in Las Vegas.
"The HITS Thermal Equine Art Gala will combine some fine equestrian art with some of the top show jumping in the world during a very crucial qualifier for the FEI World Cup," said HITS' Senior Vice President Tony Hitchcock. "We expect that some of the best riders in the world will be competing in the special FEI World Cup Qualifier making it a magnificent evening."
One of the top riders expected to be on course that night is Canadian Olympian Jill Henselwood who won a Team-Silver Medal during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Other top riders will include the HITS Desert Circuit's all-time leading Money Winner Richard Spooner and former Canadian Olympian John Pearce.
Equine Artists interested in the HITS Desert Circuit have an additional opportunity to be the cover artist for the 2009 HITS Thermal Official Show Program. Submitted artwork should be submitted to HITS' Art Director Leslie Phillips via e-mail at
Leslie@HitsShows.com by November 20.
