Top Dressage Rider Promotes Equine Stomach Ulcer Prevention: Debbie McDonald Joins Team ULCERGARD®

DULUTH, GA. — Feb. 15, 2008 — Today, Merial announced that the first dressage rider to win the FEI World Cup™, Debbie McDonald, has joined Team ULCERGARD to help promote the prevention of equine stomach ulcers.

“I am honored to be part of Team ULCERGARD,” McDonald says. “I have been using the product for many years. Any horse has the potential to develop ulcers when they travel and show. It is up to us as their owners and riders to acknowledge the signs and act accordingly. I stand by ULCERGARD 100%!”

McDonald began her equestrian career as a hunter/jumper but turned to dressage after being hurt in a jumping accident. Only 15 years after dedicating herself to the sport, she was competing at the Grand Prix level in U.S. and international events. McDonald won a team bronze medal at the 2006 World Equestrian Games (WEG) and a team silver medal at the 2002 WEG. She ranked second in the FEI dressage world rankings in July 2004 and represented the United States as part of the bronze-medal winning team in Athens, Greece. She also won the 2004 U.S. Grand Prix Freestyle Championships/U.S. League Final and received the individual gold medal at the 1999 Pan-American Games.

McDonald lives and trains in Haley, Id., with her husband and trainer Bob McDonald. She competes most often with her Hanoverian mare, Brentina.

“We are excited to welcome Debbie McDonald to Team ULCERGARD and share her experiences with equine stomach ulcer prevention,” says Jeannine Courser, Product Manager, Merial. “The types of situations Debbie faces are applicable to all horse owners that travel, train and compete with their horses at any level.”

McDonald will participate in events and promotions representing ULCERGARD and will speak about how she uses ULCERGARD to help prevent stomach ulcers. For more information on preventing stomach ulcers in horses, visit http://www.ULCERGARD.com.
