WESTPORT, CT - February 23, 2008 - Over 100 members of the Fairfield County Hunt Club have joined the Fairfield County June Benefit Horse Show Committee to support of The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., following the announcement by Tom Keim, Club President, that EQUUS has been selected as the show's beneficiary.
"The Fairfield County Hunt Club has again designated the EQUUS Foundation as our June Benefit Horse Show charity. We are pleased to work with a charity that makes such great contributions to the equestrian world. This is the fifth year that we've partnered with the EQUUS Foundation on this world class event, which has become one of the premiere horse shows in the country", said Tom Keim.
Chairing the 2008 Committee are Catherine Herman of Westport and Claire Sussman of Southport, who are joined by Executive Committee members Alison Ashman and Margaret Holzhacker of Fairfield, Margie Bondy of Wilton, Elaine Campbell, Lynn Coakley and Louise Keim of Westport, Priscilla Cornell of Greenwich, and Berkeley Soper of Southport.
Participation is community-wide for the show which is open to the public and offers daily special events, shopping, and equestrian competitions for all ages. The Club's "AA-rated" June Benefit Horse Show will be held June 24-28, 2008 on the Fairfield County Hunt Club grounds in Westport, Connecticut, a landmark in Fairfield County since its establishment in 1923 and a unique private club that welcomes members of the community with equestrian interests to join its riding program.
The annual show, now in its 84th year, attracts the best and the brightest among the professional, amateur, and junior equestrian ranks, and features a $10,000 Amateur-Owner/Junior Jumper Classic on Thursday, June 26, 2008 and a $25,000 Grand Prix on Saturday, June 28, 2008. The EQUUS Annual Benefit Luncheon is held in conjunction with the show's premier show jumping event, the $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix. Guests attending the Benefit Luncheon will enjoy a champagne reception, silent auction, and delicious buffet and will have the opportunity to watch world class riders and horses navigating over the highest level obstacles at racehorse speeds.
