“Extreme Cowboy Race” is Back!

(AUGUSTA, Ga.) The thrilling race that has swept the equine world is back! The second season of the “Extreme Cowboy Race” starts Saturday, March 4th on RFD-TV. The new season, “Extreme Cowboy Race #2,” is once again hosted by Craig Cameron and takes the original race format to a new level. Fourteen new competitors, including PRCA Champion Ty Murray, AQHA World Champion Lance Graves and others representing famous ranches compete for the title of Extreme Cowboy.

The course is located in Bluffdale, Texas, at Craig Cameron’s Double Horn Ranch with 15 not-so-ordinary obstacles to test the poise and communication of the horse-and-rider teams. The best challenges from the original course were brought back such as the windmill climb, log drag and the hay ring, to name a few. Some of the new challenges Cameron designed include a Texas Three Step, a three tier obstacle where competitors ride up and down a series of three 3 foot high terraces at full speed, additional bridges and roping a steer dummy. The biggest change is a gun shot that shakes even the best horse.

“HorseCity.com is excited to bring the much-anticipated new season of the ‘Extreme Cowboy Race’ to our viewers,” said Ryan Dohrn, HorseCity.com general manager. “Not only have we improved the course, we have also brought in new, competitive horse-and-rider teams that make the competition hard-hitting and rough. The smallest mistakes will make the difference between winning and losing.”

The “Extreme Cowboy Race” is a timed race with obstacles designed to not only push horse and rider out of their traditional comfort zone, but also test the communication and horsemanship of each team. Judges award points based on a set of five criteria: 1. Horsemanship, 2. Cadence, 3. Control, 4. Horse’s attitude, and 5. Overall execution. The first round of competition features 14 horse-and-rider teams. The top eight competitors move on to Round 2 for another set of competition. The top four competitors then advance to Round 3 for an all-out race to the finish and the title of “Extreme Cowboy.”

The “Extreme Cowboy Race” spans 10, 30-minute episodes with each episode featuring four horse-and-rider teams as they complete the various rounds. The new season will begin Saturday, March 4th, on RFD-TV with new episodes each week. Each episode will also be available on HorseCity.com to view by those who do not get RFD-TV. Also, like the first season, the “Extreme Cowboy Race #2” will be podcast through iTunes and HorseCity.com.
