Farnam to Feature Brentina and Debbie McDonald

Farnam to Feature Brentina and Debbie McDonald
PHOENIX - June 29, 2006 - Following the spirit of the Wheaties® package which recognizes outstanding athletic achievements and personal championships, Farnam salutes Brentina, the inaugural Farnam®/Platform™ • USEF Horse of the Year, and her rider Debbie McDonald, with their photograph on the new package of Platform Treats.

Brentina was selected by USEF Members, media and the USEF Board of Directors for the prestigious Horse of the Year honor ― the first time one horse has been selected among all breeds and disciplines as the year’s most exceptional horse.

Brentina is one of the most successful horses in the history of U.S. Dressage - a discipline in which the rider must exude an aura of effortlessness as it directs its horse to precisely perform a series of prearranged movements and gaits - despite overcoming several physical obstacles that could have hampered her performances permanently.

With her rider, popular equestrian Debbie McDonald, Brentina led the United States to a Team Silver at the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG). This pair went on to lead the 2004 U.S. Olympic Dressage team to a Bronze medal finish. The story of Brentina and Debbie McDonald was made into a documentary, Brentina: From Idaho to Athens.

“We are delighted to have a photograph of Debbie McDonald riding Brentina grace the package of Platform Treats and create ongoing national awareness of the program,” said Chris Jacobi, president of the Farnam Horse division. “We anticipate this will be the start of a tradition where winners of the Farnam®/Platform™ • USEF Horse of the Year Award are featured on packages of Platform Treats in coming years.”

Platform Treats are part of the Platform Feeding System, which was developed as the first and only feeding system consisting of four premium feeds, as well as complementary supplements that allow you to design your own feeding system to fit your horse’s individual nutritional needs.

Platform Treats have a light and crispy, tasty apple flavor that your horse will love. They are perfect for training rewards and come in an easy-to-use, 3.5-pound resealable bag that contains approximately 180 treats.
