FEI Forms Nomination Committee

The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has included a Nomination Committee (NC) in its Internal Regulations to further the efficiency and transparency of its organization and ensure that it is universally populated. The main task of this independent body is to take and trigger nominations from member National Federations for all positions in the FEI Bureau and Committees in time for elections.

The NC will ensure that all job specifications are written, updated and handed to prospective candidates. The job descriptions for the Technical Committees will be produced by Committees and FEI Headquarters. The NC will investigate whether nominations received meet the specifications for the position in question thus ensuring that the composition of each Committee is balanced. The NC will provide recommendations and will screen candidates. However, it cannot dictate nominations.

The NC is composed of 9 members. Each member represents an FEI Regional Group. During the 2007 General Assembly each group elected one member to serve on the Committee. In order to qualify, the candidate could not serve as either a Group Chair or sit on any other FEI Committee.

In application of Internal Regulations art. 6.1.1 the FEI President, HRH Princess Haya Al Bint Hussein, has appointed Mr. John Long, CEO, United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) to act as the NCís first Chair. Mr. Longís term as Chair will end in 2009.

The operating procedures for the NC have been produced and will be discussed by the NC during its initial meeting.
