FEI World Cup at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center features World's Show Jumping Talent

Mar. 6--A family festival of fun will be staged at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center for the $200,000 FEI World Cup presented by CN on Saturday night, Mar. 7.

The open jumping class will take place in the International Arena where the course that riders such as Olympic veteran Peter Leone and new “it” girl Hillary Dobbs, the daughter of CNN anchor Lou Dobbs and relative new comer to the Grand Prix Ranks who is a full time student at Harvard, will be created by 2008 Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela.

The FEI World Cup competition at Wellington, a highlight of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, is one of the last opportunities riders in the U.S. East Coast League, including some from Canada and other nations, have to qualify for the Final to be held in Las Vegas April 15-19. This will be third time that the jumping and dressage World Cups have been staged together in Las Vegas. Hillary Dobbs has already won the $200,000 Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic, making history as becoming the youngest to win this event ever, which was a World Cup qualifier.

The U.S. East Coast League is allocated seven places in the Final. Olympic double gold medal winner McLain Ward of Brewster, N.Y. is atop the East Coast League standings. Several top riders will be seeking to earn enough points in Saturday's competition to assure their place at the Finals or move up the standings enough to improve their chances with only one other FEI World Cup competition remaining in the East Coast League after Saturday. http://equestriansport.com for more info on event, directions etc.
