The $1,000 Masters Class was open to amateur riders over the age of 35, who are not competing in classes over 39 at the Fidelity Investment Jumper Classic. There were 17 adult entries in the Level 4, Table II, Sec 2(b) sponsored by the World . Donald Little the Founder of the Jumper Classic and Jeffrey Papows the events Chairman both competed and placed in the first class of the division. I got involved with this event six years ago because I really wanted it to survive, Papows said. I have three horses showing this week, he explained. I have owned my horse Roxette for seven years and she is like a member of my family. She had a fever once and I slept in her stall for three nights. My wife thinks Im totally crazy, he laughed.
Local equestrian Christine Miller rode Rolando K to victory with two clear jumping rounds and a blazing jump-off time of 37.823 seconds. I will be showing in the Masters division all week, Miller said. I live and ride in Amesbury, MA with my husband Bobby Shea. I like the old fashioned feeling of this show. It is great to compete on grass. I know it is a lot of work to keep up a turf ring, but it is worth it she explained.
