Floral Park has its own Family Fun Day at Belmont Park
Equestrian News Release
ELMONT, N.Y. – Belmont Park’s neighboring community of Floral Park celebrates its own special day Sunday at the historic racetrack, with an afternoon of festivities, contests, and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Floral Park’s Family Fun Day kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with rides and games for children of all ages near the Marquee Tent in Belmont Park’s bucolic backyard. With free parking and admission, available at the Floral Park and Stewart Manor Village Halls, the Floral Park Library, and the Floral Park Recreation Building, residents can thrill to an afternoon of exciting Thoroughbred racing in one of the country’s finest sporting venues.
“It’s a wonderful day for the families of Floral Park to enjoy our great neighbor, Belmont Park,” said Floral Park Village Trustee Dominic Longobardi. “Having one of the most beautiful and historic sporting facilities in the world in our back yard is a privilege and we are delighted to be part of this event.”
In addition to community-sponsored horse races throughout the day, residents can also participate in a Hat Contest sponsored by Jo Mar Dog & Cat Grooming Boarding and Boutique, with sign-up at 11:30 a.m. At noon, Trevor Gosden, 15, of Long Island Lutheran High School, will sing the National Anthem.
The spacious Marquee Tent will be decorated with student posters from a contest sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Floral Park and Stewart Manor, and live music will be performed all afternoon for the event, staged in partnership with the Villages of Floral Park and Stewart Manor, the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce and the Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce.
Families and friends can partake of fine fare from some of the communities’ best establishments, including Fiore Italian Cuisine, Jack Duggan’s Pub & Restaurant, the Floral Station Delicatessen, Pellegrini Meats and the Tulip Sweet Shoppe.
“NYRA is thrilled to have the Floral Park community join us at Belmont Park Father’s Day!,” said Joanne K. Adams, Community Relations Manager, The New York Racing Association, Inc. “I have been honored to work with such a dedicated group and have enjoyed their company over many months of planning. Hats Off to a wonderful committee!”
