Florida Horse Park, The Horse Capital of the World

All About The Florida Horse Park A Premier Destination in the Heart of Marion County, Florida The Horse Capital of the World

Ideally situated on 500 acres in the heart of Central Florida, this year-round, world-class facility is fast becoming the centerpiece of Ocala/Marion County’s equestrian lifestyle and community. Located near I-75, one of the busiest tourist routes in North America and in the center of Marion County, home to over 1,000 horse farms, the Florida Horse Park offers Olympic caliber competition and an exciting schedule of world-class events that draw top competitors and spectators from every horse sport discipline. This increasingly popular destination for family tourism gives visitors access to hundreds of miles of pristine riding trails that wind through the lush Florida Greenway.

The Florida Horse Park is developing an international equestrian facility that hosts international events as well as local shows and clinics and will have facilities to encompass every breed and discipline. Because of its access to the Greenways, it will become one of the top trail riding destinations in the United States. Additionally, it is fast becoming a community venue used to host charity events, concerts, car shows and festivals.

The Florida Horse Park began construction in June of 2005. Currently, the facility boasts a state of the art All-Weather Arena, a Grand Prix Arena, international marathon driving and cross country courses, a full size polo field and several warm-up arenas.

Over the next several years, the Horse Park will continue construction to include a covered competition arena, a covered warm-up arena, 600 permanent stalls, an RV Park, shower/restroom facilities, a 225x300 competition arena with clay/sandy loam footing, a Viewing Pavilion and Welcome Center with a Museum.

In January 2006, the Park was named an “official training site” for the United States Equestrian Team and hosted 2 training sessions for the riders vying to compete in the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany in August 2006. We have hosted clinics by Olympians Gunnar Ostergaard and Lisa Wilcox and internationally renowned drivers Boyd Exell and Chester Weber.

The Park, with local and state educational institutions, is working to create learning facilities for equestrians and those supporting the horse industry. Plans are being made for interactive classrooms and hands on learning facilities for a variety of disciplines and technical jobs. The Florida Horse Park will be the home to many of Central Florida Community College’s Equine Studies Program classes, offering hands-on learning in event management, horse handling and other aspects of their growing curriculum.

This Park is helping Marion County take its place in the minds of equestrians and enthusiasts alike that Ocala/Marion County is “The Horse Capital of the World”.
