Ladies and Gentlemen, Place Your Bets

There are horses in the Florida Thoroughbred Rehab and Placement Program which is a division of Pure Thoughts Horse Rescue, Inc., that never had the opportunity to "run for the roses" on the first Saturday in May. In their hearts, they know they could win if someone would just give them the chance to stand in the gate on May 2, 2009 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

This year, these horses will have their chance to "Run for the Roses"... All of them qualified for the "Heart of a Winner" Derby that will take place at the same time as the Kentucky Derby. These horse will hear the same bell and, in their heads, they will run step for step with the horse in the Kentucky Derby wearing the same number! The horses will place according to the same numbered horse in the Derby.

You can support the thoroughbred hearts that live to run by placing your "donation bet" at the "betting" window at: http://www.purethoughtshorserescue.com/catalog/Donations/Place-Your-Bet.

All "donation bets" will be for a trifecta and will be $2 each. For those of you who have never placed a bet, you select 3 horses, to win place and show in that order and donate $2 to each horse. If you pick the horses that have the same number as the first, second and third place horses in the Kentucky Derby, YOU WIN.

The trifecta winners from each Triple Crown race will get the choice of a hat, a shirt or a bracelet and gets a raffle ticket. We will be running this for the Belmont and Preakness also. The tickets will be entered into a drawing that will be held following the end of the Triple Crown Series and the winner will receive a Gift Basket filled with items celebrating Barbaro and a $200.00 winner's purse. The remaining donations will help the Florida Thoroughbred Rehab and Placement Program take care of these horses. If there is more than one winner, the purse will be equally shared.

Ladies and Gentlemen, PLACE YOUR BETS and give these thoroughbreds the chance to do what they do best !!! Let them run and hear the roaring of the crowd.

Pure Thoughts Inc. is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of horses, yearlings and foals that were intended to go to slaughter for human consumption. These horses would have been brutally tortured and slaughtered. Pure Thoughts Inc. Horse & Foal Rescue also rescues horses from starvation, abuse and neglect, any horse in need. To date, over 1350 innocent equines have been saved and we will continue to fight for the horses. Please help us and others save these beautiful animals and please remember in your thoughts the ones we were unable to reach.
