Fox Chase Farm Teams with Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

Middleburg, VA - February 11, 2009 - Fox Chase Farm, based in Middleburg, VA, is pleased to announce that it will host Ride for the Cure Virginia on October 10, 2009, at its spacious hunter/jumper farm in the heart of hunt country. The Ride for the Cure Virginia has been adopted as an official affiliate event of the Richmond Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Fox Chase Farm has received recognition over the years for its annual non-rated horse show circuit, as well as its hunter/jumper clinics, fundraisers, and educational events.

This year the farm reaches out even further to make a difference, inviting Virginia riders and horse lovers to join this philanthropic cause.

Maureen Hanley, Director of Operations for Fox Chase Farm, is co-chair of the event with Dr. Tena Boyd of the Old Waterloo Equine Clinic. Currently there are only five Ride for the Cure events hosted throughout the United States, and Fox Chase Farm is the first and only host in the state of Virginia.

Hanley commented, "I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting new event. Although I have had no personal experiences with breast cancer, I feel that it is important to give back to the community, and that is why I have chosen to become involved with Ride for the Cure Virginia."

She added, "The majority of the riders in the Middleburg area are women, and I believe that horses are therapeutic and can make a real difference in helping people cope with terrible situations. It just makes sense: horse riding for a cure for breast cancer."

On October 10, the Ride for the Cure Virginia trail ride will begin at Fox Chase Farm and will then continue to Sunnybank Farm. Sunnybank Farm, owned by Dorothy Smithwick, spans over 1,000 acres and will be available for everyone to ride through during the event. Participants will ride in one of three groups; every rider must raise a minimum of $250 and is encouraged to raise more for this worthwhile cause.

At the event's conclusion, Fox Chase Farm will host a sit-down dinner and silent auction. For those who are unable to join the trail ride, tickets are available for the dinner and evening festivities.

In addition to fundraisers, Fox Chase Farm hosts the $20,000 TCH Fox Chase Show Series, which is the first non-rated series to be affiliated with the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA). The $20,000 TCH Fox Chase Show Series offers two shows a month from January until September.

The farm also offers free online classifieds for local equestrians and businesses in the area. Members of the equestrian community can buy and sell horses and ponies, tack, farm equipment, cars, trucks, trailers, and post Help Wanted ads.
