Glenda McElroy Named Dressage Manager for World Equestrian Games

Parker, CO—The Colorado Horse Park is pleased to announce that Glenda McElroy has been named the dressage competition manager at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) to be held in Lexington, Kentucky at the Kentucky Horse Park. The WEG serves as the World Championships for seven international equestrian sports, including reining, jumping, eventing, combined driving, endurance, vaulting and dressage as well as the para-equestrian events. McElroy manages Dressage in the Rockies and High Prairie Dressage for The Colorado Horse Park. These prestigious competitions feature more than $12,000 in prize money and awards, making them among the largest dressage shows in the Western half of the United States. The WEG is not the first important international competition that McElroy has managed. She has twice served as the manager of the FEI World Cup Dressage Finals as well as the USEF National Grand Prix Freestyle Championships, among others.

“This is a wonderful honor,” said McElroy, President of Cornerstone Event Management, Inc. “I am very excited to be involved with this very important event. My staff and I have spent many years dedicating ourselves to the sport of dressage. The World Equestrian Games are one of the most the prestigious of international competition and we are very pleased to be involved.” McElroy and Cornerstone will work in conjunction with a huge team of thousands of staffers and volunteers to make the two-week world championships an event to remember.

McElroy continues, “The WEG is similar to the Olympic Games. I believe that this event should bring the equestrian community together. It offers the public the unprecedented opportunity to see the very best horses and riders in the world in most any equestrian discipline they want.”

While the event is still more than three years away, the WEG team is already hard at work. McElroy will have a site visit later this summer. “This is going to be a spectacular event,” she says. “It will be a real treat for American dressage enthusiasts to see such wonderful dressage horses.” While the FEI World Cup Dressage Finals has brought 18 of the world’s top dressage horses and riders to U.S. soil on three occasions, never has the WEG, which will have more than 900 horses, including nearly 100 dressage horses, been held outside of Europe.

McElroy encourages everyone to get involved as there are a lot of volunteer opportunities. You can visit the Games’ website at http://www.feigames2010.org or contact Cornerstone Dressage at http://www.cornerstonedressage.com for more information.

High Prairie Dressage is scheduled for June 8-10 and Dressage in the Rockies will be held August 3-5. Prizelists and additional information can be found at http://www.coloradohorsepark.org.
