Greg Hall and Got No Diamonds Win SWRHA Futurity Horse Show Intermediate Open

Greg Hall rode his horse, Got No Diamonds, to win the Intermediate Open at the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Horse Show. The pair scored a 221.5 in the class to not only earn $659, but also a Morrison Bronze and one of the Southwest Reining Horse Association’s signature 4-Wheelers!

“I’m pretty excited to win. It was a very large class, but this horse was really nice today,” noted the Gainesville, Texas, trainer. “This is just a good horse. He does everything well, and shows well every time.”

Got No Diamonds, by Like A Diamond, was being shown by Hall’s wife, Mary Ann, but the two didn’t quite mesh. “She’s done a great job, but they just didn’t click. He feels great to me, so I decided to show him and have some fun.”

Hall was quick to give credit to fellow trainer, Ben Gerst, who had been working with Mary Ann and Got No Diamonds. “I definitely want to thank Ben. He really has this horse stopping well for me. He did a great job. He hasn’t told me what he did yet, but I’m going to find out,” he laughed.

Hall purchased Got No Diamonds, dubbed No Spot for the lack of white which made him a breeding stock paint, as a yearling. “If he was a quarter horse, or had color, he wouldn’t still be with me. He’s a stud, but he acts like a gelding with his great personality. I think I’ll keep him until someone wants him. It’s definitely not a hardship to show him,” he admitted.

There was a tie for the Reserve title between Roy Van Der Hoeven and Hot Little Step, and Debbie Arballo on Guns Fancy Chex. Both scored a 220.5, and earned $405. Owned by Schols and Loseke, Hot Little Step is by Wimpys Little Step and out of Hot Little Lady. Guns Fancy Chex is by Nu Chex To Cash and out of CR Guns Fancy, and owned by Caycee Cooper.

The SWRHA Futurity is held annually at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. It runs from October 21-October 26, and boasts added money of over $135,000.
