Haley Webster Garner's Championship Tricolor for Karen Healey Stables at HITS

Thermal, CA - March 25, 2009 - Karen Healey Stables' horses and riders showed at the final week of competition for the 2009 HITS Thermal Desert Circuit this past week and continued their top placings.

In addition to her regular students, Karen Healey had a special young rider in her group this week. Haley Webster won the 2009 Ronnie Mutch Equitation Scholarship and was awarded a two-week visit to HITS Thermal to train with Karen Healey.

This was Webster's second week training and competing with Healey in Thermal, as well as her second week winning the Equitation 12-13 championship tricolor. Last week Webster rode her horse Luciano to the division championship and this week she won it riding Glenview, owned by Stephanie Danhakl. Webster and Danhakl won two first place ribbons and two second place ribbons in the division's individual classes to win the championship honors.

13 year-old Webster is from Sacramento, CA, and trains with Patty Ball regularly. In order to win the scholarship, Webster submitted a video of her riding and an interview on why she thought she deserved the opportunity. "We sent it in kind of last minute and we ended up getting it, which was really cool," she explained. "Then I got to go down to train with Karen for two weeks."

"Karen is an amazing trainer and she works really hard," Webster continued. "All of Karen's students are really good riders and she is really nice. What she tells you really helps and the exercises that she set up ended up being exactly what I had to do when I went in the ring to show, so that really helped."

Healey helped Webster work on using more leg in her riding and also gave her the opportunity to ride one of her younger, green horses in order to learn more. Webster really appreciates the help that Healey gave her throughout the two weeks of training and is looking forward to improving throughout the season.

"I would like to be able to show my horse in the medal finals and do really well," Webster stated. "Hopefully if I can qualify for some of the medal finals I would like to show on the east coast; that would be a really good experience."

Callie Selchau is another rider out of Karen Healey Stables who wrapped up the last week in Thermal with a win. Selchau was champion of the Equitation 16-17 riding Spa Sciences Southern, owned by Allison LaJoie. Selchau and Spa Sciences Southern placed first, first and fifth for the division championship and were also fifth in the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Medal.

Jocelyn Neff did well this week competing aboard Lord Loxley, owned by Liza Finsness. Neff and Lord Loxley placed second in the Equitation 16-17, were third in both the USEF Hunter Seat Medal and the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Medal, and were also sixth in the Level 4 Jumpers. Kasey Ament also showed Lord Loxley in the Level 4 Jumpers this week and placed sixth.

Samantha Harrison had a good week with her horse Triple Lutz, owned by Harrison Farms, LLC. Harrison and Triple Lutz placed fifth in both the Equitation 16-17 under saddle and WIHS Equitation Classic Jumper phase classes. The pair also placed first in the USEF Hunter Seat Medal, third in the R.W. Mutch Equitation Championship, and sixth in the USEF Talent Search Medal.

Demi Stiegler show Vigo this week, placing fourth in the USEF Hunter Seat Medal and sixth in the R.W. Mutch Equitation Championship. Vigo is owned by Citrus Hill Farms, LLC.

Navona Gallegos continued her success this week as well. Gallegos rode Cortes 7 to a second place finish in the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Medal and a fifth place in the Level 4 Jumpers. Gallegos and Class Action placed fourth in the WIHS Equitation Classic Jumper phase. She also showed in the High Junior Jumper division this week, placing first with her horse Acrobat, and third with John Huggin's horse Drossana.

Other top finishes for Karen Healey Stables this week include a blue ribbon win for Kylee Arbuckle and Karen Healey's Woodstock in the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Medal. Mackenzie Baker rode Thea Disney's Kona in the Low Junior Jumpers and won two third place ribbons, and Dylan Kornbluth continued his success on The Jackal, owned by Carlos Valenzuala, placing fourth in the Low Junior Jumpers.
