HEART Equine Ambulance to be Featured at American Museum of Natural History's Horse Exhibit

New York City, NY - April 30, 2008 - Humane Equine Aid and Rapid Transport (HEART), a state-of-the-art equine ambulance, has been invited to the opening of the American Museum of Natural History's exhibit in New York City. The event will focus on horses throughout history and the various ways that equines have affected mankind throughout the years.

The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) exhibit opens on May 17, 2008, and will be held through January, 2009. At the opening, HEART will provide tours of the equine ambulance and hand out educational material to guests.

"It's an honor to be part of the exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History," commented Robin Sweely, president of HEART's Board of Directors. "The fact that we have been invited to such an exciting event indicates that we have been successful at spreading awareness for our cause. We feel honored and are looking forward to attending the exhibit."

Humane Equine Aid and Rapid Transport (HEART) is an equine ambulance stationed ringside at leading East Coast equestrian events from Maine to Florida. HEART provides its essential services at such events as the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL, the Tampa Equestrian Festival in Tampa, FL, the Devon Horse Show in Pennsylvania, The Hampton Classic in New York, the National Horse Show and more. The HEART Equine Ambulance became a nonprofit organization in the year 2000 and is run by a dedicated group of equestrians. The ambulance is funded by generous donations and charitable gifts received through fundraising events.

In the event of a serious injury at a horse show, HEART's rapid transport can increase the horse's chances of recovery. Fortunately, it is a rare occurrence that horses are physically debilitated or die during show jumping competitions. Although accidents are few and far between, this loss strikes horrible fear in the equestrian community. Aside from the obvious heartbreak to the riders, the public observing the incident is forever impacted by how the care of the horse is handled.

HEART cares for horses 24 hours a day at shows. Besides providing the emergency transport of injured animals during competition, the HEART ambulance staff is available to exhibitors if they have a sick or injured horse during the night. The HEART staff is passionate about the welfare of all horses.

In addition to the AMNH exhibit in New York City, HEART will attend two equine expositions later this year, where they will offer ambulance tours, demonstrations, and educational material to promote awareness of HEART's important mission. The events will be held in July in Raleigh, NC, and in October in Richmond, VA.
