High Praire Fall Preview Starts: Two Weeks of Horse Showing in Colorado

Parker, Colorado.

Typical fall weather met horses and riders for the first of the final two weeks of horse shows at the Colorado Horse Park this season. Bright sunny days and cool nights were the norm as riders from across the region came back to the Horse Park to contest several equitation, hunter and jumper finals.

In the Central Equine Junior Medal Final, barnmates Elizabeth (Ellie) Wilkins, Olivia Chowdry and Clare Burchenal finished one-two-three. The riders all train out of Meridian Riding Club with Tracye Ferguson. “I was so proud of all three girls,” said Ferguson. “Each of them rode beautifully. It was especially gratifying since both Ellie and Olivia were on brand new horses and Clare is so new to the ‘A’ circuit. In fact, this is her first year at the ‘A’ show.”

Kelly Cruciotti topped the Marshall & Sterling Children’s Medal Final with Leighona Bernstein and Paige Collins finishing in second and third respectively. But that wasn’t all for the young rider. Kelly, who trains with her mother Cindy, rode Serenity Farms’ Q to the win in the championship in the Children’s Hunters 13 and under. Kelly and Q finished the week by winning the Marshall & Sterling Midwest Hunter Final and besting a field of ten to earn the tri-color.

Over on the jumper field, it was Arapahoe Riding Club’s Play It Again with Lambert Bunker in the irons winning the Marshall & Sterling Jumper Classic. The pair has been quite successful all season, earning several show championships along the way.

Acordian and Krista Blew won the HPF Variable Mini-Prix. Carly Devine, with her two entries Grazioso 4 and Royal Saber, finished second and third respectively while Glee White piloting Orlando (Sarah Herskowitz, owner) to the fourth place ribbon.

Horse showing resumes Sept. 11-14 at the High Prairie Fall Classic, featuring the Colorado National Medal Finals, the Zone 8 USEF Junior Medal Final, the Zone 8 USEF Adult Equitation Final, and the ASPCA Maclay Regional Final. Langer Equestrian Group will also name the LEG-Colorado Trainer Incentive winner. Colorado trainer Michael Dennehy of Bridlewood Farms is the current leader. Standings for the coveted trip to Maui are online at: http://www.langershows.com/special.php In addition to the trip to Maui, the top five trainers will all receive cash prizes.
