Courtney King Wins Six Blues and Two High Scores at Windy Hollow Hunt Summer I Dressage

BEDFORD, NY – June 13, 2006 – Courtney King went six-for-six at the Windy Hollow Hunt Summer I Dressage show, held June 10-11 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, New Jersey. King exhibited three horses in six classes and claimed victory in all six competitions. King’s winning mounts were Harmony’s Wyoming, Jubilant, and Idocus. High Scores of the show were awarded by level/type and two of King’s mounts earned the High Score in their respective divisions – Harmony’s Wyoming earned the Open High Score (79.444%) for First Level Test 4, and Idocus earned the FEI High Score (74.167%) for the Grand Prix.
King made her debut with her new mount, Jubilant at Windy Hollow Hunt Summer I Dressage. Jubilant (“Eubie”) is a seven-year-old stallion by the Oldenburg stallion Don Schufro out of Hauptstutbuch Fleur, bred in Denmark by Hermann Kuijpers, and owned by Anne H. Wood and Virginia Easley. On Saturday, King and Jubilant won Third Level Test 2, scoring 68.810% and Third Level Test 3 with a 68.667%. On Sunday, Jubilant won his Third Level Test 3, earning 67.778%. “It was his first show with me and he was very good,” King reported. “He got better and better with each test. On Saturday, in the first test he was a little behind the leg, the second test he was more with me, and on Sunday he was awesome! I was extremely pleased with the way he showed.” King expressed her thankfulness to Jubilant’s owners, Wood and Easley. “They are fantastic owners,” said King, noting that Wood comes weekly to Gleneden Dressage in Bedford, New York, where Jubilant is stabled, to watch his schooling sessions, and Weasly was in attendance at the show to watch her stallion’s successful performances in the ring. “They fit right in with all of the wonderful owners I am so fortunate to have,” King noted.
King showed Harmony’s Wyoming in two classes and topped them both. Harmony’s Wyoming is a dark brown five-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Weltmeyer out of Donna Clara by Donnerhall, bred in Germany by Fenna Schulte-Landwehr, and owned by King and Harmony Sport Horses. “Wyoming was once again a super-super-duper star!” exclaimed King. King and Harmony’s Wyoming are currently ranked fourth on the USEF/Markel Young Horse Short List for Five-Year-Olds for the 2006 FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Dressage, which will be held August 3-6, in Verden, Germany. In First Level Test 4 on Saturday, the duo earned 79.444% for the win and the Open High Score. On Sunday, the youngster won First Level Test 2 with a score of 69.412%.
With Idocus, a 16-year-old Dutch stallion by Equafor owned by Christine McCarthy, King exhibited her intimate knowledge of her partner. On Saturday, King felt the elegant stallion was a bit backed off in the warm-up, and when she had the same feeling after entering the ring, she excused herself. “He has been so enthusiastic and awesome and happy, but he was definitely telling me something – and there was no way that I was going to take a chance on giving him a bad experience in the show ring,” King explained. On Sunday, the pair competed in the Grand Prix and took the win with a score of 74.167% and earned the show’s FEI High Score. “He was back to himself and was awesome,” King stated. “The piaffe and the pirouettes were much better and of course those are coefficients!”
King, 28, is based at Gleneden Dressage in Bedford, New York. In 2000, King was named to the USET Olympic Long List and in 2004 she was named to the USEF High Performance Developing Riders List. King is a United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist and a USDF Certified Instructor through Fourth Level. http://www.courtneykingdressage.com
