Jennifer Alfano Wins Four Tricolors in Professional Hunters at HITS Ocala Winter Classic

Jennifer Alfano Wins Four Tricolors in Professional Hunters at HITS Ocala Winter Classic
Ocala, FL – February 16, 2007 – The HITS Ocala Winter Circuit started on February 14, 2007, and trainer/rider Jennifer Alfano of SBS Farms Inc. from Buffalo, NY, has made the most of the first two days of the show.

On Rock Star, owned by Bright Star 158 LLC, Alfano was champion in the Regular Working Hunters and reserve champion in the Second Year Green Working Hunters. Rock Star won two classes in the Second Years and three classes in the Working Hunters.

This was Rock Star’s first time showing this winter. He had only shown a few times in the Regular Working Hunters last year, which jump four feet in height. “He was awesome. He’s just an unbelievable horse,” Alfano described. “He tries his best every single time.”

Alfano swept the Regular Working Hunter division by winning the reserve championship on Meredith Lipke Bartolone’s Once and Again, who won one class and was second in two other over fences classes. Once and Again has become one of Alfano’s most consistent horses, winning at such top shows as the Devon Horse Show, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and the Washington International Horse Show.

“She was a little frisky the first day,” Alfano explained with a laugh. “The class went late, and she was missing dinner, which did not make her happy. The second day, she was her great self again and jumped really well.”

On Secrets, owned by SBS Farms, Alfano finished as the reserve champion in the First Year Green Hunters. Secrets had consistent top three placings in every class. SBS Farms purchased Secrets last fall from Bill Schaub, and this Alfano and Secrets’ first show together. The seven year old Warmblood mare is “really fun to ride,” said Alfano. “She’s got a lot of jump, a big stride and is easy. I never rode her much at home; Kacey McCann rode her there. Kacey will show her in the junior hunters here as well.”

SBS Farms continues showing this week, and they will compete next week at the HITS Ocala Winter Festival on February 14-18, 2007.
