HITS to offer new NAL Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper qualifying classes

SAUGERTIES, NY (May 19, 2009)—HITS is pleased to announce that the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classics at HITS Saugerties and HITS Culpeper will count for NAL points this year in addition to the NAL classes HITS already offers for Children's and Adult Hunters and Jumpers and Pony Jumpers.

"Off of the top of my head, I can think of at least seven exhibitors from my barn that will be interested in competing in those classes,” said Gavin Moylan, who operates Meadowville Farm in The Plains, Virginia. “It's a wonderful opportunity to earn points for the Finals.”

Moylan and his group of exhibitors will show at HITS Culpeper in July and August in hopes of earning some crucial qualifying points. “I have some real goal-orientated exhibitors at my barn,” continued Moylan. They are all extremely excited to have this opportunity all summer.”

The North American League (NAL) is a series of shows that offer events for Children's Hunters and Jumpers, Adult Hunters and Jumpers, Pony Jumpers and Open Jumper Speed. Members earn points toward the finals – held annually at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show (PNHS), in October.

When HITS Saugerties kicks off tomorrow, the $5,000 NAL Junior Jumper Low Classic and $5,000 Amateur-Owner Jumper Low Classic will highlight the schedule. This is the first year that HITS Saugerties is offering the Junior/Amateur-Owner Classics split each week. Those classes will be offered at each of the eight shows at HITS Saugerties this season.

When HITS Culpeper gears up again on July 1, it will be the $10,000 NAL Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic that gets the ball rolling in the Grand Prix Ring Sunday morning for the Showday National and Cavalier Classic. When the shows return to Culpeper in August, there will be $5,000 in prize money offered for that class at the Winston National and Constitution Classic.

In addition to offering a full slate of NAL qualifiers, both HITS Saugerties and HITS Culpeper will continue to offer qualifiers for the Marshall & Sterling League Children's and Adult Hunters, Children's and Adult Jumpers, Pony Jumpers, the Bit o'Straw Hunter Classic, Adequan Hunter, Tri-State Hunter and all four medals – Junior, Adult, Children's Horse and Children's Pony.

This season's Marshall &Sterling League Finals will take place at HITS-on-the-Hudson, September 10-13. All of the classes will be held in HITS' Majestic Grand Prix ring that is set at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains.

Highlighting the extended weekend is the Marshall & Sterling League Finals Party and Awards Dinner on Friday, September 11, featuring the presentation of the Essex Classics Year-End High Point Awards to the top-10 riders in each division based on the Marshall & Sterling National Point Standings.

"It's hard work to earn a place in the Finals," said HITS' Senior Vice President Tony Hitchcock. "The Marshall & Sterling League Finals pays tribute to all of the extraordinary effort that each exhibitor puts into earning their place at the Finals."

It's not too late to become a member of the Marshall & Sterling League. Exhibitors who are competing heavily over the next few months can still qualify for the Finals. Membership is just $40.
