HITS names Purina Mills its official Equine Feed for 2009
SAUGERTIES, NY (April 30, 2009)—HITS is proud to announce that Purina Mills again will be the Official Equine Feed for HITS Saugerties, HITS Culpeper and The Marshall & Sterling League Finals for the 2009 HITS horse show season.

Purina Mills takes center stage during HITS-on-the-Hudson III as the title sponsor of the $125,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix on Sunday, June 7. Leading up to the featured Grand Prix will be the Purina Mills Canine Affair scheduled during the ever-popular Purina Mills Kids Day from noon to 2pm.

Purina Mills, which has been a sponsor of HITS since 2001, is a leader in horse research and equine feed development. "Purina knows that different horses, different lifestyles and different circumstances call for different feeds," said Purina's Marketing Director Nancy Shearer. "So whether you're feeding an elite equine athlete, or a geriatric horse, or you need an all-around formula like Strategy for an entire herd, Purina makes a formula just right for you."

"We're pleased to count Purina Mills as a long-standing sponsor of our horse shows. Purina Mills' commitment to excellence and the equine industry is obvious by their exceptional equine feed products and active involvement in HITS shows. We're very appreciative of their support, and their commitment to our customers and our sport," says Lisa Engel, HITS Account Executive for Corportate Sponsorship.

This year's HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Series offer even more for hunter and jumper competitors including increased prize money and special Classics.

For High Performance riders, more than $1 million in prize money will be handed out over the course of the spring and summer series in the Open Jumper division. There are four Open Jumper classes each week, including two grand prix classes. Junior and Amateur jumpers will see their divisions and Classics split each week with $5,000 awarded in the Low Classic and $10,000 in the High Classic weekly. The Children's and Adult jumpers will have a $10,000 Classic on weeks I and IV, as well as their regular Classics the other weeks.

There's something special for the hunters too, as the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and the $5,000 Pony Commotion take place week VI. $50,000 in prize money will be awarded at the 2009 USEF Junior Hunter East Coast Championships on July 27, and equitation riders will have a chance to compete in the prestigious Hunterdon Cup on July 28. Children's and Adult hunters each will have an opportunity to show in a special Classic as one of the feature classes of the evening schedule. Check the schedule for other special Classics featured each week on Friday and Saturday evenings.
