Karen Healey Stables Wins Two Best Rider Awards at HITS Thermal III Horse Show

Tina Dilandri and Holly Dickinson Claim Honors

Thermal, CA – February 15, 2007 – At the third week of the HITS Thermal Winter Circuit, Karen Healey Stables had an amazing week full of Best Rider awards, championships and blue ribbons.

Tina Dilandri of La Jolla, CA, was named the Best Junior Rider of the week. She and RSVP rode to first place in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, USEF Junior Medal and the WIHS Jumper phase, which placed her second overall in the WIHS Equitation class. “My horse was perfect, and my eye was good,” Dilandri said. “It was one of those weekends when things came together.” Dilandri also rode Chanel 292 in the High Junior Jumpers this past week.

This was 15-year-old Dilandri’s first Best Junior Rider title. “It’s definitely something special. It was an honor to receive because it’s the judges that pick the rider that they think is the best. It’s an accomplishment for me,” she revealed.

Dilandri thanked Healey for her help and trainers Archie Cox and John Bragg for the opportunity to catch-ride. “Getting to ride different horses made a huge difference for me,” she explained. “The opportunity of getting more experience on new horses will help me if I have to switch horses in an equitation final. It has really helped me improve.”

Holly Dickinson of Los Angeles, CA, won the Best Child Rider title. She piloted White Gold to the reserve championship in the Children’s Hunter 13 & Under division. They won the Children’s Hunter Classic and won the mid-circuit championship in the same division. On Victor, Dickinson finished second in the Show Circuit Medal and third in the Marshall and Sterling Junior Medal.

Holly was not the only Dickinson to take home top honors. Her mother Elizabeth won the championship in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumpers on Fabius 45. On Here’s Johnny, she was champion in the Equitation 36-50, second in the Marshall and Sterling Adult Medal and won the CPHA Amateur Medal.

Shelby Wakeman of Westlake Village, CA, piloted Cincenatty for Julie Winkel to the championship in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters and won the Junior Hunter 16-17 Classic. These top ribbons also placed them as the mid-circuit champion in the division.

With the ride on three horses, Hannah Selleck of Thousand Oaks, CA, had top ribbons in the equitation and jumpers. On her horse Bauer, she was second in the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. With Apartico, she was second in the USEF Talent Search, third in the USEF Junior Medal and fourth in the WIHS Equitation Classic. Selleck was the champion in the Equitation 16-17 division on Bella.

Kristi Siam of Chatsworth, CA, came home with a string of blue ribbons from her wins in the USEF Senior Medal, the Marshall and Sterling Adult Medal and the Ariat Adult Medal classes. Michelle Morris of La Cañada, CA, won the overall WIHS Equitation Classic, was second in the USEF Junior Medal, third in the CPHA Junior Medal and fourth in the ASPCA Maclay class.

Samantha Harrison, another La Cañada resident, won the CPHA Junior Medal and was second in the Marshall and Sterling Junior Medal. Navona Gallegos took the top placing in the Marshall and Sterling Junior Medal, was second in the ASPCA Maclay and was third overall in the WIHS Equitation class.

Young Skylar Nelson wrapped up the winning with a reserve championship in the Schooling Pony Hunter division on Shenanagans.
