HITS has named The Wolf 94.3/97.3 its Official Radio Station for the 2008 HITS Saugerties Series of Horse Shows

SAUGERTIES, NEW YORK (April 24, 2008)--HITS is pleased to announce that The Wolf 94.3/97.3 has been named its Official Radio Station for the 2008 HITS Saugerties series of horse shows beginning on Wednesday, May 28 at the HITS-on-the-Hudson facility in Saugerties, New York.

The Wolf will be on-site at HITS-on-the-Hudson during two very entertaining afternoons. First, the popular country station will be at the show grounds for a day of family fun and entertainment during the Purina Mills Kids Day on Sunday, June 15. Purina Mills Kids Day takes place from 12 pm until 2 pm and will feature free pony rides, a petting zoo, photo booth, clowns, slides, bouncy house, arts & crafts and loads of fun.

The radio station returns for another on-site broadcast during the HITS Saugerties Summer Series of horse shows when The World of the Horse celebration returns on Sunday, August 10. The World of the Horse extravaganza begins at 12 pm and will feature numerous breeds that will be represented in a colorful parade sure to delight horse lovers of all ages.

After the World of the Horse concludes, the winner of The Wolf's National Anthem Contest will sing the Star-Spangled Banner prior to the $50,000 In the Woods Log Homes Grand Prix on Sunday, August 10. The National Anthem Contest is set to begin on May 1 and run through August 7 on The Wolf 94.3/97.3. For more information on the contest, tune into The Wolf 94.3/97.3.

"The Wolf is a great radio station," said HITS' National Marketing Director John Eickman. "In fact, I have an hour commute to work in the morning and I find myself tuned in almost each morning. It's one of the only stations that actually plays music in the morning!"

"I am looking forward to a great relationship with HITS," said The Wolf's Regional Sales Manager Rob Vanderbeck. "Everyone at the station is already talking about going to the show grounds for Kids Day and World of the Horse. They are two fabulous events!"

Show jumping at HITS Saugerties runs Wednesday through Sunday from 8 am to approximately 5 pm during each horse show week. On Thursdays some of the top Grand Prix riders will look to earn the lion's share of prize money during the $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix and on Sunday afternoons the stakes are higher as riders and horses vie for up to $50,000 in prize money.

Admission for adults during the week is free and is just $5 on weekends. Children are always admitted free. Once again, all of the proceeds from the gate go directly to Family of Woodstock, Inc., so visitors can feel good that their participation in the horse show is helping a great organization that serves the surrounding community.

The HITS equestrian facility is nestled at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, just one mile outside the village of Saugerties. The facility offers an on-site food service pavilion, an ice cream parlor featuring an assortment of frozen delights and Starbucks® coffee. The HITS Bar and Grill serves up pizza and cold beer in a spacious air-conditioned lounge. Spectators can grab some lunch and find a grassy spot on the berms while watching some of the world's best show jumping with the entire family right here in the Hudson Valley.

Those interested in the behind the scenes of show jumping can watch the horse show farrier put new shoes on a horse and even tour the stables to see some of the horses and riders up close. And for those who love to shop, HITS does not disappoint. The HITS Saugerties Mall features clothing, tack, fine jewelry, custom footwear, art and photography, and custom HITS souvenirs.
