Hoof Beats Releases New Magazine for Youths

Columbus, Ohio, October 27, 2006 - In an effort to attract a younger generation to the sport of harness racing, Hoof Beats, the official publication of the United States Trotting Association, has produced a new, semi-annual publication.
Youth Beats, a 16-page publication, was inserted into the October 2006 issue of Hoof Beats.
In a sport where the demographic of fans tends to be on the older side of the ledger, the USTA is hoping to open younger minds to the sport through this fun-filled and educational publication. The articles and photos were not only chosen with youth in mind, but several pages were filled with photos submitted by kids themselves. The initial Youth Beats also contained a trivia and puzzle page, as well as suggesting horse-related books and movies that can be enjoyed.
The second edition of Youth Beats is slated to be published in April 2007.
Youth Beats is the latest among a number of efforts made by the USTA to get youngsters interested in the sport and the Standardbred breed, which include the USTA Youth Rally, free USTA Youth Membership, coloring and activity books, and the Marie Hill Youth Writing Contest.
