Lexington, KY (August 30, 2006) -- The Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA) is proud to announce the 2006 Friesian Horse Inspection circuits. Once a year the Koninklijke Vereniging Het Friesch Paarden-Stamboek (KFPS), the mother registry of the Friesian Horse in the Netherlands, sends inspectors and judges to North America. Three teams of judges will begin in the eastern United States and Canada and visit almost thirty locations during a two-week period.
All new born foals should be presented for ranking within the registry. These rankings include 1st premium, 2nd premium, 3rd premium, and no premium. The 1st premium ranking represents the top percentage in the registry.
Horses of all ages will be inspected, including aged mares and stallions. It is anticipated that over 1,100 horses will be inspected in 2006 – a dramatic increase from previous years. The breeding process for the Dutch Friesian Horse is very much regulated. Currently there are less than 20 approved stallions in North America, and less than 100 world-wide.
Inspections are held at both public and private venues. The general public is welcome to attend any inspection. A list of dates and sites can be found on the attached page. For additional information, including local contacts, please visit the FHANA website – http://www.fhana.com.
