Horse Sports by the Bay, Inc.'s Alex Rheinheimer Shares Knowledge of the Equestrian Sport

Traverse City, MI - April 10, 2009 - Alex Rheinheimer is the co-owner of Horse Sports by the Bay, Inc., along with her husband Dean. Horse Sports by the Bay produces the annual Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival, a month-long equestrian competition held in the heart of scenic Traverse City, MI. This year's event runs from July 8-August 2. To help promote their event and the sport to the local Traverse City community, Alex will appear on local radio and TV stations in the upcoming week.

When Horse Shows by the Bay began in 2004, it had approximately 250 horses, and it has now grown to over 1,500. Horse Shows by the Bay is one of Traverse City's top tourism drivers and has impacted the local economy by an estimated 30 million dollars.

Each week, Traverse City's Marigold Productions honors a woman business owner who has demonstrated outstanding business integrity and unwavering support for women in business, and this week's honoree was Alex Rheinheimer.

Alex noted, "Both Dean and I are very passionate about equestrian sport. We remain dedicated to further educating the general public about our event, how unique our industry is, and to increase spectatorship at events."

Horse Shows by the Bay brings in some of the top horses, riders, and trainers from all over the country. It also provides an exceptional horse show experience for the local equestrians with its newly developed Local Rider Open Show Series. Supporting the local riders is just a small part of Dean and Alex's continued efforts to expose the equestrian industry to the grass roots level and beyond.

Furthering those efforts, Alex is very active in the community and has radio and television appearances already scheduled to spread the word about the Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival.

She will be interviewed on the radio on 106.7 You-FM in Traverse City this Friday from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and will also be featured on the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce television show, Chamber Connections. The program, airing Tuesday, April 14, on Up North 2 channel at 7 p.m., will feature Alex and the National Cherry Festival's executive director Tim Hinckley. The show will highlight the annual four-week Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival and its growing economic impact on the regional economy and more.

The Chamber Connections show is the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce's 30-minute television program dedicated to issues related to business, economic development, and community in northwest Michigan. You can catch new episodes every week at Up North 2 (channel 2) or view episodes anytime online at
