Farm Show Complex Hosts Horse World Expo to Showcase the Best of the Equine Industry

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 20,000 horse lovers and equine enthusiasts are expected at the fourth annual Pennsylvania Horse World Expo, Feb. 24-26, at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg to learn more about the state's $600 million industry.
"Horse World Expo gives people the chance to learn more about the latest in equine training and technology," said Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff. "The event is entertaining and educational and it's the ideal venue to offer the public a full range of information about the various aspects of the horse industry."
More than 450 vendor booths will fill 180,000 square feet of exhibit space, and the expo will also offer seminars and entertainment. Apparel, artwork, books and tack will also be showcased.
Additionally, the expo will feature many of the country's most accomplished horse trainers, plus an array of events, including:
-- "Theatre Equus, A Musical Equine Revue," a professionally choreographed
and scripted show in which people and horses partner to perform various
stunts. 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
-- Trick Trainer Tommy Turvey Jr., whose horses attempt dangerous stunts.
3 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
-- GaWaNi Pony Boy, a Native American Indian, who travels the world
teaching people to understand and relate better with their horses.
Appears daily.
-- Lynn Palm, winner of 34 World and Reserve World Championships, named
one of the top clinicians in the United States by "Horse and Rider
Magazine." Appears daily.
-- Australian Neil Pye, dean of instructors for the Pat Parelli Centers in
Colorado and Florida, and a former Parelli course instructor in
Australia and New Zealand, now teaches Parelli Natural Horsemanship
around the world. Appears daily.
-- The Trainer's Trainer Richard Shrake, who has taken more than 40
students to world championships and produced 18 videos on his training
methods. Appears daily.
The commonwealth's equine industry employs more than 20,000 people, while also preserving an important Pennsylvania tradition.
Pennsylvania Horse World Expo hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday; and, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.
Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for 7- to 12-year-old children. Children under 7 are admitted free. Tickets for Theatre Equus are $12 and $16 and are available at the show while supplies last. Parking is $5.
